Looking forward for barcampkerala 5

Tomorrow is the greatest unconference Kerala has ever seen so far - The barcampkerala5. I have signed up to present a session for the attendees. The session is on introducing latest Adobe technologies to the masses with focus on Actionscript development. Me and Eldhose had this plan to go to visit Kanyakumari and Kovalam by starting as early as thrusday , May 1 being a holiday. But then we had to drop that trip by car as Eldhose suddenly realised that he has got lots of chores to attend to and also his MBA exams was near.
Now the new plan for tomorrow is to start as early as 3.45 am from here to reach Mamangalam where my uncle lives. We hope to park the car at his house and then get a ride on SEO guru ManiKarthiks car to technopark. Hopefully we will reach there by 10 am on Sunday. Bonoy and Albin will also be there with us on the journey and I hope to have a great time with the trip, the session and the barcamp.

Perils of Enterpreneurship vol -XXIVXX

I cant say the #index of this new peril but face it we did. It was 14 march saturday when a sudden rain(which was ofcourse off season) came down with all its fury. It was really heavy rain and office was closed for the day as it was weekend. Now the next day which was sunday would never be a working day for any of us. But eldhose happened to come down to check mails and alas he found that the whole floor was flooded. The drainage systems of the floor had got clogged(thanks to those people who threw the cigarette butts) and water had ruched inside office through the opening below the doors.
In his fury he broke open all the drainage filters and spilled all the water. But the damage was already done. We had to open offices for monday and the velvette carpets and many of the CPUs were in water. He called me up and arranged a helper lady to mop the water off the carpet. u came up later and joined forces to find some innovative ideas t drive water away. We used a wooden contraption used to level rice grains and used it to drag over the carpets to remove the water. It was already started to smell bad. So we decided that we wont be able to work on monday and called to inform junior employees not to come. Seniors could come as we can arrange for them in the other office. We kept all the fans running and left it so for the night hoping it will dry off at night.
Now today which is monday, the floor was dry but there was smell. We arranged everything be evening when others were working on the other room. We made some changes to the layout to so that this activity was for the good. Now bottles of room freshener was emptied to handle the smell so that we can start working tomorrow.
Who says startups are not fun..they really are

The new office policy

EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2009

NEW OFFICE POLICY

Dress Code:
1) You are advised to come to work dressed according to
your salary.

2) If we see you wearing Prada shoes and carrying a
Gucci bag, we will assume you are doing well financially
and therefore do not need a raise.

3) If you dress poorly, you need to learn to manage your
money better, so that you may buy nicer clothes, and
therefore you do not need a raise.

4) If you dress just right, you are right where you need
to be and therefore you do not need a raise.

Sick Days:
We will no longer accept a doctor's statement as proof
of sickness. If you are able to go to the doctor, you are able to come to work.

Personal Days:
Each employee will receive 104 personal days a year.
They are called Saturdays & Sundays.

Bereavement Leave:
This is no excuse for missing work. There is nothing you can do for dead friends,
relatives or co-workers. Every effort should be made to have non-employees attend
the funeral arrangements in your place. In rare cases where employee involvement is
necessary, the funeral should be scheduled in the late afternoon. We will be glad to
allow you to work through your lunch hour and subsequently leave one hour early.

Bathroom Breaks:
Entirely too much time is being spent in the toilet.
There is now a strict three-minute time limit in the
stalls. At the end of three minutes, an alarm will
sound, the toilet paper roll will retract, the stall
door will open, and a picture will be taken. After your
second offense, your picture will be posted on the
company bulletin board under the 'Chronic Offenders'
category. Anyone caught smiling in the picture will be
sectioned under the company's mental health policy.

Lunch Break:

* Skinny people get 30 minutes for lunch, as they need
to eat more, so that they can look healthy.

* Normal size people get 15 minutes for lunch to get a
balanced meal to maintain their average figure.

* Chubby people get 5 minutes for lunch, because that's
all the time needed to drink a Slim-Fast.
